So, FiveSidedSquare settled down again... Teapot wasn't as big of a hit as PsychoWiLL anticipated, mostly due to the horrible music video part. Beyond that, it was rather well recieved. I've got lighter coursework this semester, so I might maybe be able to help with stuff more. I know I'll do more rants, as those are actually somewhat popular with the locals. By the end of the school year, I'll have done two Web Design courses, and I'll be more able to help with the site than I am currently.

Murphy may be coming back, depending on how well AC convinces him to post on FSS. He's getting to be a power-whore sometimes. Also, I'm getting a bit tired of Multi-Joe usurping my administrative decisions.

Also, since this isn't entirely old news, three w00ts for DraconicBlessing, who's living on his own in the real world now.

I went to see DOOM last night. As UglyKid puts it, it's best summed in two words: unintentionally funny. The movie's first-person part was too corny to have drama to it at all. I'm sorry guys, but I guess it was unique. It was a failed experiment though. It's a movie, and there's no pressure in that. You know they're not going to have him die, as that would sort of counter the plot. Now, if they had actually done other parts where they guys died in first person, the tension would be a lot higher.

AC AND I THOUGHT IT WAS VIN DIESEL!!!

Yeah, it was the Rock, as noted by the end credits, but we were convinced it was Vin. The only thing that sort of threw me was that he died in the end, which isn't Diesel-like at all. At least now I know why.

I'd suggest seeing DOOM, even though it doesn't follow the first two games very well. The monsters aren't from hell and it doesn't take place on the moons of Mars, but the planet itself, and it has a lot of really cheesey tie-ins to the game, but it does have some charm to it.

As for the band, we're going okay. Not too long ago, we had a talk to Corey about his role in the band, and how he was calling the shots much too loudly. We're better off now.

I can't wait for Zelda and the Nintendo Revolution!

Band and etc.

Had band yesterday. We rock a lot harder with Corey than we did with Tyler. It's more efficient and, no real offense meant to Tyler, but Corey can sing better. It's a bit odd. Tyler can hit the pitches better, but he doesn't mesh well with the instruments or something. We recorded "Hypocrisy" and "Comfort Eagle" and we are making progress. I'm not very happy with the Comfort Eagle we recorded, but it worked out decent enough, and we can always redo it.

Meteos is ADDICTING.

I had Traveller today, something I haven't done in a long time. I'm glad to have finally done another session, and I think it went pretty well. I want to do more with the Crack Commander, but we didn't have time for it today. Maybe next time.

I still have to do a lot more work on my "Allie's Mitt" project. I'm using an NES as my object. I hope to hell and back that it doesn't get stolen or damaged.

My hair is hella long now. Even I'm starting to think of cutting it down a peg. I've beaten everyone, except for Steve in the front, so I think I'll relinquish the title for a while. It was nice while it lasted.

I love old games. They just get better with age it seems. The games that really stand the test of time are the really good ones. I had an urge to play Majora's Mask today. I didn't do it for some reason. I guess I do have that policy I enforce on myself, at least for the N64 games, of only beating it once a year. It's almost New Years though, so I guess that could count for something.

I oughta get Animal Crossing DS, I hear. I don't really know. It looks like it'd be kind of fun, but I don't really feel like buying another game right now. I need money for the Revolution.

Music: lots of stuff on my .mp3 player (1 gig of music woot!)
Mood: sedated

Meteos + Flying Dragon FTW

I've been playing a blend of Meteos and Flying Dragon. I just bought Meteos and Killer 7 at Media Play's "going out of business sale", and I haven't even played Killer 7 yet. Meteos is like Advance Wars in the fact that when I close my eyes, I see the game. It's kind of sad really. It bugs me more than Advance Wars in that respect. It's almost unsettling. No doubt you've already heard about Meteos. It's addicting, very fun, great solo or multiplayer, but it's something that you can be on either side of the fence on. If you don't own it, you won't need it. If you own it, it may become your best friend. It gets a recommendation from me, as it very effectively uses the DS stylus.

Flying Dragon (for N64) is a VERY great fighting game. If you collect older games, DEFINATELY check out Flying Dragon. There is a lot of depth to the game, as well as the fact that it's two fighting games in one. Both of them are very fun. The SD mode was the main attraction I had at first, since it was simple enough not to infuriate me, and it had an RPG-esque system of experiance and earning credits and levelling up and stuff. It's like Mortal Kombat RPG, but much faster and with sidestepping and counter-attacks and grabs/throws, as well as easy to use specials and cool combos.

The Virtual mode is now a more preferred method for me though, as it's harder than the SD mode. The AI is a lot smarter, the button sequences are trickier, and it rates your fighting style and gives you tips on how to improve. Even if you beat it, it ranks you on a scale which you can try to beat.

Multiplayer can be a REAL blast in either mode. Chances are, though, unless you play against a friend who plays as much as you in SD mode, you will whip them pretty easily. The way to balance it is to turn off items and handicap yourself, which levels the playing field a bit more. You can also trade them a few high-level items to give them a bit of an advantage.

I'm good with Ryuhi mainly in SD mode, though I can also kick ass with Shouryu, Wiler, or Yuka. I'm equally good in Virtual mode with Min Min and Ryuhi, and I'm not shabby with Shouryu either. As far as fun goes, Shouryu is the most fun in SD, because he has a bunch of crazy acrobatic moves and he has awesome throws. His lack of a punch-counter attack can get annoying at times, but those sometimes get me into more trouble than they're worth. Min Min is more fun in Virtual mode because of aforementioned acrobatics. I love nearly all of her combos, especiall P-P-down+K-K-K-K-down+K

Another great thing I love about this game is "mind's eye", which can be your savior when you're blocking a barrage. It will show you the place to attack to intterupt their combo and get a Super Technique, which really doesn't mean much besides that you stopped a combo. Of course, if you can predict their attack (another thing Mind's Eye helps with), you can catch their attack and counter with a pretty devistating attack of your own.

If I haven't said so in my last post, Red Vs Blue is hillarious. I have all three seasons now. I think I prefer the earlier episodes. Caboose is my favorite character, but not by far. They're all very funny characters, and each have their own awesome qualities. Caboose just makes me laugh the most.

How long has it been?

Yeah, I'm kicking this thing back into action maybe. I like blogger more than xanga anyway, and the only reason I have a xanga account is for commenting on friends' website things.

FiveSidedSquare is taking off, in a way. "Guess What? Teapot!" is done. That's a big thing. It's been worked on for over a year.

After looking at the site files, I think I might start doing some more work on it. I might make some background stuff, edit the template a bit, see if I can't get rid of some of the obnoxious red that's plauging the main page.

Fight Club kicks ass. Fight Club is the best movie I have seen in a very long time. I thought about posting about it earlier, but I didn't get on. I can't believe the depth of that movie. The psychology of "Jack" and Tyler... The entire concept of self-destruction and the philosophy of anti-consumerism... The whole movie is great.

I'm kind of mad though that I didn't get to see Kill Bill in theater when I had the chance. That's of course another great movie, and they were showing both back to back in the local theater, but I didn't know about it. I would have loved to see that as well.

Almost X-mas and I don't want anything. I could get some DS games.

Oh wow, I haven't posted since I got my DS. Rippin'.

In case you haven't noticed, the DS is one helluva awesome machine. I got one the day Advance Wars DS: Black Hole Rising was released, and that's a very good reason to get a DS. I only own three games for the DS but I believe I've spent more time playing it than I have ever playing GBA (outside of when I played Spy vs Spy).

Bah, I wants a girlfriend.

Teh NERVOUS

I got my quarter deal today, with the grades and stuff. Not bad, not bad. I gotta see about fixing my grade for Beginning Acting.

I'm feeling REALLY lazy when it comes to school work. I just don't want to learn stuff today. I really want summer to start soon. I need a break from learning.

I wish I could just take tests and get grades for my classes. I know the stuff, I just don't want to do the homework for it. I'm becoming an underachiever for this.

I have been playing my N64 lately. I even bought some new games for it (well, you really can't call them new now, can you?) I bought Mario Party 1 and 3 a while ago, and now Vigilante 8 and San Francisco Rush: 2048. Wheefun.

April 18, 2005

Long time no post.

So, in my long extended absense, I managed to pull decent grades out for third quarter. Last quarter is upon me, and I doubt I'll get straight A's. Ah well, I'll manage.

There haven't been many good games out lately. I still want a Nintendo DS, but it just costs too much... Not to mention the current games aren't anything spectacular. I've got the cash, but I just don't want to blow it on a DS until they show something more powerful.

TimeSplitters: Future Perfect is a pretty good game, though it seems to copy Halo a little much. It lacks in the vehicle department, but it has more and better guns, plus a mapmaker tool for creating maps. The story mode seems too plotful for a TimeSplitters game, and I hate giving Electronic Arts money. I might just get the game though.

I also beat XIII last month sometime. Highly enjoyable, especially for the style the game has. It's a different kind of FPS, and it has a lot of features that you don't find in many games these days. Or in games in general.

I've been playing my N64 lately. I bought a few games, like Mario Party 1 and 3. I HATE MARIO PARTY 3!!! I can't believe I bought the game... Mario Party 1 is definately the best of the series. Other than that, I've been playing Perfect Dark, Flying Dragon, and F-Zero X. I am very sad that Rareware had to be sold to MicroSoft, and the new Perfect Dark will only be released on X-box (And not on GameCube like it should be!).

OOH! I also finally beat All-Star on Very Hard in Super Smash Bros. Melee!!!! It took me two and a half-years of earning coins for the continues, but it finally happened! HOORAY FOR THE MEW TROPHY!

I might invest more time in this site, depending on how things work out. I should get to making a custom background instead of this lamzor default one.

In other news, Five Sided Square released a game finally, Red Castle FunStar. You can find it on Newgrounds somewhere, I might edit with a link later.

The demise of KoL from school.

I probably should have cleared my history, as they keep checking it every time we have time off from school. Damn.

The news is Kingdom of Loathing is now completely blocked from the school server. Now I'm here in Computer Applications with nothing to do. Well, aside from checking the extremely slow moving forums or reading webcomics.

In other news, Misteroo has released a flash edition of Arfenhouse, for those who follow the series. I'm talking about his old game, not the movie. The old game is now in Flash instead of OCHRPG or whatever it was before.

I'm trying to make a comic again, but it's not wokring out too well. John started using Flash again. That's typically not a good sign, but you never know, and I'll have some new content on my site

I also updated my video driver and downloaded Enemy Territory. I suck at the game, which is a strange feeling for me. I'm usually pretty damn good at FPS games, but I get severely owned in that game. Maybe I've been playing against AI for too long and real players throw me off.

DJ Ghiaccio sent a few new songs my way. My computer is too lame to play them all at full speed, even with all other programs turned off. I also sent in some of his work to Radio KoL to try to get him some publicity. Right now, he doesn't have anywhere to host his files. If you're at all interested in hearing his stuff or hosting his files, drop me a line at jay%ceth%e%ayc%e@gm%ail.com (take out the percent signs, I'm keeping my email off the spambots.)

Another interesting place to check out might be
site of DJ Lazlow and his TechnoFile news reports. He's got some interesting stuff there if you're into current technology, or occasional news items of interest.

DnS starts today hopefully. I hope to own.
